The Milton Public Library has two events planned for November so far: a performance by the Boston Guitar Orchestra and a screening of the “Imitation of Life.” Both events are free and open to the public. For more information on either contact Jean Hlady, adult services librarian at 617-698-5757.
Film Screening: The library’s “Segregated Worlds” film series continues with a showing of Jeff Stoodt’s film “Imitation of Life” on Nov. 8 at 6:15 p.m. in the Keys Community Room. The series is part of the library’s Milton Reads! program and the films follow similar themes to those in “To Kill A Mockingbird,” the program’s book choice of the year. The 1934 film stars Claudette Colbert who plays a young widow raising a daughter who joins forces with another widow to open a pancake parlor.
Boston Guitar Orchestra: On Nov. 10, the guitar orchestra, which is a community-based, amateur ensemble, will perform in the Keys community Room at 2 p.m. The orchestra was formed in 2009 by Scott Borg and is now a staple of the Boston Classical Guitar Society.
The library is located at 476 Canton Ave., and both events are being sponsored by The Friends of the Milton Public Library.
