During October, Milton’s 350th anniversary celebration will continue with two history-based events - a “Magical Milton” trolley tour and a horse show at Prowse Farm in Canton.
Here’s a quick look at each event and more information about both is available on the anniversary committee website, www.milton350thanniversary.org.
Horse Show: On Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the 350th committee will hold an celebratory horse show at Prowse Farm, 5 Blue Hill River Rd. in Canton. The show is free and open to the public, and organizers hope it will help residents recognize and honor Milton’s horse history.
“Although we’ve come far from our historic horse interdependence, the love of horsemanship and the keeping of horses is still alive and well in this town and vicinity,” a news release about the event said
Trolley Tour: On Oct. 21, Milton residents can take a trolley tour of historic and significant sites in Milton. The tour will take participants to the Blue Hills, the Suffolk Resolves House, the Forbes House Museum, as well important buildings and sites.
“We wanted to give people a chance to see places in Milton they may have heard or wondered about but never actually visited,” Mary McLaughlin, a member of the committee said in a statement.
Each trolley will have a speaker acting as a guide and the tour, which lasts two hours, will stop briefly at each site. Snacks will be provided and lunches are encouraged.
Tickets are $10 a person, $5 for seniors and students, and can be ordered by calling 617-696-4983 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
