The city of Melrose has reached an agreement with the current management at Mount Hood Golf Club to continue overseeing the publicly owned facility, according to an announcement from Mayor Rob Dolan.
As part of the contract, which needs to be approved by the Board of Alderman, the city's park commission and Golf Management Corporation will look into the feasibility of opening a driving range at the course, located on Slayton Road. There are also plans to run more events in the club house, the announcement said, including wine tastings and comedy nights.
The contract will run for five years, if approved, according to Dolan.
“GMC has been an excellent partner at Mount Hood for the past ten years, and I am pleased that we will continue our relationship with them,” Dolan said in a statement. “This new contract will allow us to continue the progress that has been made during the past decade.”
