Medford City Hall will twinkle with tiny lights, glow sticks, and other sparkly surprises on Saturday for “A Night of 10,000 Lights,” a fund-raiser for the Medford Family Network.
The organization provides services to families whose children are enrolled in Medford Public Schools. Playgroups, a new mother's support group, and a lending library are among the programs supported by the annual fall fund-raising gala, scheduled this year for Oct. 20, 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The evening will feature food, wine, and dessert tasting from Medford businesses, along with a silent auction. The goal is to raise $10,000 – or $1 for every light turned on at City Hall.
But organizers are also hoping for a bigger payday.
“Last year, we were thrilled to [exceed] our fund-raising goal . . . and make $15,000,” said Amanda Dameron, a Friends board member. “We’re hoping to keep climbing and get to $20,000 this year.”
Restaurants taking part include Bertucci’s, Blue Fuji, Carroll's, Friendly’s, Harrows Chicken Pies, Margaritas, Not Your Average Joe’s, Salvatore’s, Tenoch, and Yoki.
Local bakeries have donated desserts, and coffee will be supplied free from Mystic Coffee Roasters. Tickets to the Boston Ballet, a Macbeth production at Chevalier Theater, and hotel stays are among the auction prizes.
Tickets cost $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.medfordfamilies.org.
