The pedestrian crossing lights on Morton Street in Mattapan that have been out since at least Monday have been repaired, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which maintains the roadway.
Located between Norfolk Street and Blue Hill Avenue, the lights blink yellow to alert drivers of the crossing and when activated by a pedestrian turn red to stop traffic and allow for them to cross.
The portion of the roadway where the lights are located is thickly settled and extremely busy. Residential structures and storefronts are located on either side of the street, which has two lanes of traffic flowing in both directions with a speed limit of 30 miles per hour.
Because the crosswalk is located on a curve, the lights offer an early alert to drivers of pedestrians
