The following was submitted by the Abbot Public Library:
Walter Hope, Chairman of the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands and Member of the Boston Harbor Islands Advisory Committee, will give an illustrated talk about the Islands, on Wednesday, September 18th, at 7:00 pm. The presentation will start with the Ice Age and quickly move through history to 'Today' and will discuss some of 'Tomorrow'. Walter has gathered a wonderful collection of photos from yesterday as well as today. Following his presentation, he will be pleased to answer questions about the Islands, including how you might enjoy this amazing “treasure.” Island events are scheduled through the end of September via boat trips offered by the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands, or you can venture about via your own boat!
Walter Hope was an on-Island overnight volunteer with the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands in the mid-80's and has been on the Board of the Boston Harbor Islands for the past 4+ years, and Chairman for 2+ years. He lives on a boat year-round in Charlestown, within cannon shot of the USS Constitution "Ironsides." For more information about the Friends, visit www.FBHI.org.
