On your market, get set... get fit! The JCC’s Coast to Coast Challenge has started and people are cruising across the country, right here at the JCC!  You earn fitness miles every time you work out at the J – so hit the Fitness Center, swim laps, shoot hoops or take a class. We’re charting our progress on a big map.  So far, the frontrunner is in Ohio! It’s not too late to get in the game. Sign up with any JCC fitness staff person. Only at the JCC – Ultimate Fitness Fusion

The J’s award-winning fitness team introduces Ultimate Fitness Fusion – a unique and wild combo class that incorporates several different workouts each time. The 60-minute program changes every week, so you never know what to expect next! 

UFF features Spinning, TRX, boxing, Urban Rebounding, core work, weight training... you name it. Don’t be scared, though! UFF is for people of all ages and fitness levels. “We work as a team and focus on each person’s strengths and challenges. Everyone will feel empowered at UFF,” said General Manager Brian Grable. Hear NBC’s  Brian Williams at the JCC

He’s one of the world’s most respected newsmen. Hear Brian Williams at the JCC, as part of our Manhattan in Marblehead speaker series. Williams will speak in New York City and be broadcast live at the JCC. It’s an interactive evening – you’ll be able to ask Williams questions and he’ll answer them live from NYC. $10 for JCC members, $12 for Community. Sign up by calling 781-631-8330.

Hoops Tourney 
Practice your lay up and get your hook shot ready! The JCC’s popular Jimmy Myers 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is Monday, Jan. 21, and there’s still time to lace up and play.
Myers, a Swampscott native, was a beloved coach at the J for 25 years, where he mentored thousands of kids about good sportsmanship. He ran youth and adult basketball leagues, coached, refereed and led after-school classes.

Nearly 100 kids and adults competed in the tourney last year. Here is this year’s schedule:
Grades 3-5  Check-in: 9:00am; Games Start: 9:30am
Grades 6-8  Check-in: 11:30am; Games Start 12:00pm
Grades 9-12 Check-in: 2:00pm; Games Start 2:30pm
Adults Check-in 6:30pm; Games Start 7:00pm

The fee is $45 per 3-person team. All money raised goes toward sports and recreation programs at the JCC. Register at or contact JCC Sports Director Andrew Dalton at 781-476-9904 or

Sea Serpents
