On Wednesday, December 15th, The Marblehead Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business Breakfast Forum titled "Google Tips to Market Your Local Business" which featured guest speakers Susan Hankins of Ask-Susan LLC and Beth Robinson, Social Media, Web Marketing, SEO consultant. The Forum was held at Hooked Seafood & Grill, located at 114 Pleasant Street, Marblehead and was well attended by Chamber members and interested guests.
Susan Hankins discussed the importance of claiming your business listing at http://google.com/places. The search engine Google has developed a tool to assist people looking for local businesses. To this end, Google has compiled more than 50 million business listings through their extensive web searches, and at this time, only 4 million business owners and managers have claimed these free listings, updated them, completed information, etc. This important process is entirely FREE, and it increases your search rankings on Google. According to Susan, nearly 70% of all online searches are through Google, and 20% of those are local searches, for businesses and services. Susan explained to attendees the importance of claiming and updating their business profiles on Google Places and outlined 5 simple steps that can help increase visibility online, which can be found on her website at www.ask-susan.com. Ask-Susan, LLC has been providing website marketing for small businesses for 11 years. She specializes in Pa y Per Click (PPC) advertising.
