Two Malden public schools have received grants totaling nearly $100,000 to fund mentoring and literacy programs.
Forestdale School and Linden Academy will receive $95,000 through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant Program, according to an announcement from state Senator Katherine Clark. The grants were handed down by the state's Department of Education. Both schools serve students from kindergarten to eighth grade.
"The Linden and Forestdale schools will be able to implement enrichment programs they ordinarily might not be able to afford, specifically designed to complement existing academics," Clark said in the statement.
