Governor Deval Patrick Monday met with current and former members of the state's Youth Council, including one Malden teen, to discuss the students' aspirations and accomplishments.
Evy Tran of Malden was among 28 from the state, between the ages of 14 and 20, who met with the Governor.
"I continue to be impressed with these amazing young leaders. Their commitment to civic engagement make them incredible role models for the next generation," Patrick said in a statement. "I look forward to continuing to work with them to focus on the issues that are important to youth in Massachusetts."
Patrick's office said the council played a strong role in advocating for the state's anti-bullying legislation, and has worked to promote a "no name calling day" in January.
The council was created in 2008 and has since served as a conduit for Patrick to include youth voices in policy-making decisions, according to the state.
