The Public Works Commission on Tuesday will hold a public hearing to set water and sewer rates for the new fiscal year that started July 1.

The hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Room 325 at City Hall.

The city uses a combined water/sewer rate, the amount of which is based on usage. Currently, customers who use up to 200 cubic feet of water pay a minimum of $8, and are also charged $7.80 per 100 cubic feet of usage, up to 800 cubic feet.

The other rates are $14.33 per 100 cubic feet, for customers who use 801-12,000 cubic feet, which is the majority of people in the community, and  $17.09 per 100 cubic feet for anyone who uses over 12,000 cubic feet of water/sewer.
