The Children’s Center of Lexington has set up a fund to help a Lexington family that was involved in a single-car crash earlier this month.
The non-profit Children's Center at 1590 Massachusetts Ave. has worked with the Cambridge Trust Company to establish a fund for the family of Jana and Greg Hersch, who were injured along with their two children in a single-car crash into a pole along Interstate 95 in Walpole on the afternoon of Dec. 1.
The couple's oldest boy attends the Center in Lexington, said Sally Gordon, the director at the Center, who said the trust fund has been set up to help the family with non-reimbursable medical expenses, transportation, travel, and miscellaneous expenses.
Gordon said Greg Hersch has suffered two broken legs and a crushed hand in the crash and will not be able to walk for about three months, but has returned home. The couple’s 15-month-old boy suffered neck and spinal injuries and remains in Children’s Hospital in Boston. Jana Hersch and the couple’s oldest child also suffered broken bones and other injuries in the crash. Gordon said Jana Hersh has had to quit her job to tend to her family and Greg Hersch will be out on disability for some time.
Contributions can be dropped off or mailed to the Cambridge Trust Company, 1690 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington, 02420. Checks should be made out to the Hersch Family Fund.
