Police officers found a gun and ammunition hidden inside a hallway wall of a public housing building in the Jackson Square area.
Officers assigned to District E-13’s Safe Street Team conducted a building check Friday at 934 Parker St. in the Bromley-Heath development and found an “unusual opening” along one of the hallway walls, about six feet above the floor.
The officers then noticed the handle of a gun sticking out of the opening.
The Rohm Model RG 40 .38 special revolver and a plastic bag of several rounds of ammunition were seized as evidence. No arrests have been made.

The police department recently announced plans to open a satellite office at the Bromley-Heath residential complex in an effort to combat a wave of violence there in recent months.
Boston Police Safe Street teams, groups of officers and sergeants who are assigned to high crime areas, will use the satellite office to write reports and meet with community members.
Other steps have been taken recently to try to curb violence at the sprawling public housing complex near where Jamaica Plain, Mission Hill and Roxbury meet: including other gun seizures, arrests, evictions, and the installation of new security cameras and lighting.
