A Jamaica Plain man was sentenced to one year in state prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and distributing it online, according to the state Attorney General’s office.
Jose Guzman, 42, was also ordered to serve five years of probation after his prison sentence, officials said.
Conditions of his probation include: he undergo sex offender evaluation and treatment; he cannot have any contact with children under 16; cannot loiter in areas where children tend to congregate; and cannot use the Internet except for work-related reasons and is specifically barred from visiting, entering, or using any online chat room bulletin board service or social networking site, prosecutors said.
State Police arrested Guzman in January 2011 at his Jamaica Plain home, where they found numerous videos of child pornography, authorities said.
He pleaded guilty this month to two counts of possession or dissemination of obscene matter, two counts of dissemination of child pornography, and possession of child pornography, officials said.
“This defendant not only used his computer to obtain images and video files containing child pornography, he also shared the material over the Internet,” said a statement from Attorney General Martha Coakley. “This defendant will be serving time in state prison for exploiting children, a serious and disturbing offense.”
