The Jamaica Plain Historical Society is raising money to pay to apply to become a federal nonprofit organization, which will allow the society to apply for grants and receive tax-exempt contributions.
The society said in a recent e-mail newsletter that it hopes to raise $600 to cover the cost of applying to become a federal 501c3 tax-exempt organization.
Contributions toward that goal can be sent to: JPHS, P.O. Box 302924, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 or online via PayPal here.
In the e-mail newsletter, the society said it hopes to celebrate its 25th anniversary by achieving that nonprofit status.
