The Hingham Newcomers Club delivered a $1,500 donation to the Hingham Police Department this week in an effort to give back to the community.
According to police, the Club explained they had such a successful year they wanted to give back to the community by donating their funds to public safety causes.
According to Sgt. Steven Dearth, Police Chief Michael Peraino decided to put the donation toward a larger purchase, which will cost $5,000.
Overall, however, the donation will be used toward the purchase of crash reconstruction equipment and software. This equipment will be used by officers in investigating, mapping and diagramming serious crash scenes, police said.
