The $447,000 renovation to the running track at Hingham High School was completed this week after the lines were laid down on the red surface.
The project follows in the footsteps of the $60,000 updates to the tennis courts, which were finished in late April and have been open to the public.
According to Caryl Falvey, chair of the School Committee, the track will be open to public use by Monday. The paint needs to dry over the weekend, she said.
Most likely, there will be an opening celebration at homecoming on Oct. 20.
"We have a big crowd at homecoming, so there will be more people we can thank and lots of kids there. It will be fun to celebrate that then," she said.
Although the celebration for the field is still a few weeks off, school officials are excited to see the project complete.
"I think it looks fantastic. I think the company that worked on the track did a great job, and track boosters got involved, [HHS Athletic Director] Margaret Conaty and [Business Manager] John Ferris did a great job, it's wonderful. And…if you walk on it, what a difference in the cushion, you can feel like you can bounce on it," Falvey said.
