One of the events this month at the Hingham Public Library - duo Mark and Beverly Davis perform.

Oil Paintings in the Dolphin Gallery
Joreen Benbenek, a Copley Master and American realistic impressionist painter, is bringing her works in a show entitled "First Light" to the Hingham Public Library from now until April 28.

A member of the North River Arts Society, and a South Shore resident, Benbenek has received over 150 national and regional awards for her work. In addition, her work is in over 200 corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, and Australia.

Spring bag sale
Looking for a good book for you can keep?

The library will hold a Spring Bag Sale from April 11 through April 16 in the rooms next to the main library entrance.

Customers can purchase a small bag for $2 and a large bag for $5, and can have as many books as fit in the bags. Proceeds go to the Hingham Public Library.

Finale: Saturday Sounds Special
The library's Saturday Sounds Special series will feature guitarists Mark and Beverly Davis on Saturday, April 23, at 3 p.m., in the final performance in the 2010/2011 Boston Classical Guitar Society and Hingham Public Library initiative.

Performing together since 2001, the pair’s international repertoire includes songs from the British Isles, from Spanish culture, and from contemporary composers.

According to the release, “their repertoire consists of pieces chosen for musical interest and emotional depth.”

The pair will bring their duet to Hingham after traveling throughout New England, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Australia, bringing influences of French, Brazilian, and American traditions along with them.

This is an open event free to the public. Audience members are encouraged to arrive a bit before 3 p.m. to make sure seating is available.
