Local organization Generous Gardenerss is hosting a garden tour in Gloucester to benefit the plantings of the Fishermen’s Wives Memorial on the Stacy Boulevard Esplanade, and the new Harbor Walk Butterfly gardens.
The event will be held on Saturday July 13 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The self-guided tour features the bountiful florals of more than 10 gardens located throughout the city.
Gardens one through five, with views of the Annisquam and Little River, are accessible off of exit 12 on Route 128. Parking is available at Grand Banks as well as along Biskie Point Road.
Garden six, in West Gloucester, is the garden of Hillarie Holdsworth. Parking for the Holdsworth garden is available along Walker Street and in a field next to the property.
Gardens seven through ten are located along Stacy Boulevard with parking at Stage Fort Park.
The Elizabeth Gordon Smith Park, Picture Garden and Perennial Gardens are easily accessed on foot or by trolley with a flag stop at the Fishermen’s Wives Memorial. The trolley also stops at the Harborwalk Butterfly Gardens, garden eleven, along the harbor.
Kim Smith, designer of the Butterfly Gardens will be speaking and conducting tours of the Butterfly Gardens at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. starting at St. Peter’s Park.
The starting location will be in the Grand Banks parking lot, which is exit 12 off of Route 128 North. Tickets can be purchased for $25 online or the day of the tour.
