The Town of Framingham is preparing its search for a new health director, after the April 12 resignation of Ethan Mascoop.
"We are preparing to post the position," said Town Manager Robert Halpin, "And working in conjunction with the Mass. Public Health Officers Association, we will begin the recruitment process."
According to Halpin, Mascoop cited personal reasons for his resignation. The town manager did not provide further information. "He (Mascoop) would prefer not to discuss it," Halpin said.
Halpin praised several of Mascoop’s accomplishments, including the closure of General Chemical Co.’s Leland Street facility, and his work with MetroWest Moves–the partnership with Hudson and Marlborough that encourages a more healthy and active lifestyle for the residents of those three communities.
Mascoop had been the town’s health director since 2008. Robert Cooper, a former public health director, will be supporting the department on an interim basis until a permanent replacement can be found, said Halpin.
