Top Shelf Restaurant, an upscale Italian restaurant along Route 9 in Framingham, has shuttered its doors effective Jan. 1, according to the eatery's Facebook page.
On their Facebook page, restaurant owners wrote that their closure was a result of high fees, regulations, and the down economy.
"Due to extraordinary town fees and regulations, as well as these economic times, it has made it impossible for us to continue," the post reads. "We continue to look for investors that may allow us to return. We thank you all for your business over the past 2 years and hope some day, to serve you once again."
Top Shelf opened in June 2011, according to their Facebook site.
The restaurant was located on the eastbound side of Route 9, next to Honeybaked Ham and across from Sichuan Gourmet and DrinkMaster Bartending School.
The eatery's website has apparently been taken down, and calls to the restaurant's phone number were not answered.
