Retired Framingham police officer dies in his Dennis home

Robert A. Sambuchi died Sept. 24 at age 67.
Robert A. Sambuchi, who worked 27 years on the Framingham Police force, died Sept. 24 at his Dennis residence, according to his obituary from Framingham's Norton Funeral Home. He was 67 years old.

Born in Framingham, Sambuchi was a graduate of Framingham High School. He attended the State Police Academy in 1975, and subsequently joined the Framingham Police Force, where he served for 27 years.

During his law enforcement career, he obtained a degree in criminal justice from Massachusetts Bay Community College.

After his retirement from the force in 2001, he moved to Cape Cod, where he worked a variety of jobs, and acquired many new friends. He will be remembered fondly for his willingness to help others, infectious smile, and quick wit, according to his obituary.

He is survived by Sharron (Labatte) Sambuchi, his wife of 45 years; his son Scott and wife Kimberly Sambuchi of Framingham; his daughter Tina and husband David Cooper of Webster; his brother Dr. Richard J. Sambuchi and wife Mary of Bad Axe, Michigan; two grandchildren, Michael and Hope Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Tarcisius Church, located at 562 Waverly St. in Framingham. The Mass will be followed by his burial at St. Tarcisius Cemetery on Winthrop St. in Framingham.

A memorial service will also be held in the near future at Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster, Mass.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Norton Funeral Home, Framingham.
