State Senator Karen Spilka will hold her seventh annual Senior Health and Wellness Fair this Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Joseph P. Keefe Technical School in Framingham.

This event provides a forum for local seniors to learn more about ways they can continue to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, and gives them the opportunity to engage in lively discussions about the programs and issues important to their everyday lives.

Throughout the course of the day, seniors will be able to participate in a variety of workshops and presentations aimed at providing important information on senior health programs, benefits, and wellness activities.

Workshops include:

  • “MassHealth Eligibility for Age 65 & Older”
  • “Acupuncture for Aches and Pains”
  • “Creating Concrete Leaf Sculptures”
  • “Know Your Home Care Provider”
  • “Medicare Presentation”
  • “Better Living Bingo”
  • “Wills 201: Changing Rules Under New Probate Code”
  • “Connecting People with People”
  • “Balance Matters: Fall Prevention”
  • “New Trends in Retirement Jobs”
  • “Planning to Stay Home”

The fair will also include a continental breakfast, a hot lunch, and a number of free health screenings.

The day will also include a performance by The Golden Tones, a local chorus comprised of men and women of retirement age who sing and dance to life spirits, have fun, and promote health and social engagement to benefit their audiences and themselves.

Anyone interested in attending should call Spilka’s office at 617-722-1640 to reserve a spot as soon as possible.
