A residential building slated for the former McDonald’s lot in the West Fens will now have nearly 30 more units than originally planned.
The Boston Redevelopment Authority on Thursday approved plans by the developer, the Abbey Group, to add 28 more units to the building to be constructed at 1282 Boylston St.
The additional units will bring the total number of units to 350 from 322 and increases the number of affordable units to 38 from 36.
The additional units will not change the envelope of the 348,235-square-foot building that was previously approved by the authority in September.
The original plan for the project approved by the city in 2011 called for 100,000 square feet of office space on the fourth through sixth floors.
During the design process, developers were able adjust design plans and make the units slighty smaller to add these new units, William Keravuori, of The Abbey Group, told the authority its board meeting.
Keravuori said he is hopeful construction will start in the next few months.
The building will also house a community center and retail space on the ground floor, and 295 vehicles in a three-story underground parking garage.
The $305 million project is expected to create 600 construction jobs.
