An influx of student housing could be coming to Mission Hill as the Wentworth Institute of Technology reviews its plans with the community to add a number of new units to Huntington Avenue.
A community meeting will be held Tuesday, July 31, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Blount Auditorium, 550 Parker St., to gather feedback from area residents.
Boston Redevelopment Authority and Wentworth representatives will also be on hand to answers questions about the project, which will be located at 525 Huntington Ave.
The project, part of Wentworth’s 2010 Institutional Master Plan, proposes constructing apartments for up to 305 students on the northwestern corner of the school’s campus.
The site, bordered by Huntington Avenue, Vancouver Street, and Louis Prang Street, is currently an open space, although some space will be retained for a public gathering area after construction.
The proposed seven-story structure will house 72 apartment-style units intended for juniors and seniors at the college.
If the plans are approved, construction should begin by February 2013 and be completed by the Fall of 2014.
