Boston’s food truck fever continues, as Suffolk Downs prepares to host its second annual Food Truck Festival in September .
In 2011, its inaugural year, the festival drew thousands from across Greater Boston, creating long lines for some of the most popular trucks. This year’s festival promises to be even bigger, with more than 20 trucks participating, as well as live music, children’s activities, sampling tents, and, naturally, horse racing.
The festival will include dishes from French crepes to Vietnamese sandwiches, lobster rolls to cupcakes. For those wanting to try a variety of different dishes, some trucks will offer sample-sized portions as well as full meals.
Participating trucks include Bon Me, Boston Super Dog, Brandi Foods, Captain Marden’s Cod Squad, The Chicken and Rice Guys, Chubby Chickpea Mobile, The Dining Car, Frozen Hoagies, Go Fish!, Grilled Cheese Nation, The Happy Taco, Irie Bites, Kickass Cupcakes, Lobsta Love, Mei Mei Street Kitchen, Miss Bailey’s All American Comfort Food, Paris Creperie’s La Tour Eiffel, Redbones BBQ, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, The Sweet Truck, The Whoo(pie) Wagon, and Woodman’s of Essex.
The festival will take place from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Suffolk Downs, 111 Waldemar Ave. in East Boston. There is no admission fee, but attendees can buy “taste tickets” that can be used at the trucks like currency. Taste tickets are $13 for 10 or $25 for 20 and can be purchased at http://foodtruckfestivalsofne.com. For more information, visit the website or call 617-782-7117.
