East Boston, already a neighborhood known for the quality and variety of its food, will see its eating options temporarily increase this weekend, as Suffolk Downs hosts its first-ever food truck festival.
This Saturday afternoon, 15 food trucks offering everything from fried dough to Turkish meatballs to lobster rolls will descend on the racetrack for five hours of festive feasting and family activities.
The food trucks include the Away Café, Brandi Foods, Captain’s Coffee Brewers, Daddy’s Fried dough, The FroYo Truck, Frozen Hoagies, Go Fish, Grilled Cheese Nation, Lobsta Love, Mobile Home, Redbones, Sweet Truck, Trolley Dogs, Turkish Delight, and Woodman’s of Essex.
Suffolk Downs will also feature a live racing program Saturday, including the $100,000 Robert M. O’Malley Sprint Stakes and the John Kirby Stakes.
The festival runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Admission is $5 for adults and teens, free for children 12 and under. Proceeds from admission will go to charities serving families in East Boston, Revere, and Winthrop. Parking is free and a shuttle bus will run between the track and the Suffolk Downs MBTA station throughout the event.
