They don’t have a menu … yet. But who needs a menu to choose a luscious, fresh, tasty cupcake?
Walk through the front door into the bright white-subway-tiled little bake shop and breathe in the fresh smell of baked goods. A quick glance of the gleaming display case and suddenly you’ll be filled with a slight tingle of panic. Oh my goodness! What to choose?
Crumbs Bake Shop opened this week on the fringe of the Financial District. It offers an assortment of breakfast treats like muffins and scones and fresh hot coffee and all it’s variations: lattes, cappuccinos, espressos.
And evidenced by the lines two mornings in a row, there’s a new category of breakfast foods – the cupcake! Standing in line behind a young woman who purchased $141.00 worth of the little gems for the law office she worked in, I wondered why cupcakes were suddenly such a popular item?
Then I tasted the Toffee Coffee and I knew instantly. They’re just plain good.
Crumbs replaced the shuttered gift shop at 176 Federal St. As Crumbs suggests in subtle, keenly placed phrases “You can taste happiness.”
