The Dorchester Arts Collaborative will welcome its new art center to the neighborhood this Saturday, Feb. 16.
The 1,200 square-foot space, dubbed the Erick Jean Center for the Arts, is named after longtime community activist and local artist Erick Jean.
The center is part of a larger development by the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation and represents a partnership between the two groups.
Located at 157 Washington St. in Dorchester the center will host classes, performances, and gallery shows.
Members of the Dorchester Arts Collaborative will celebrate the “soft opening” of the center with refreshments and demo classes Saturday from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.
