The University of Massachusetts Boston will be conducting tests of its new campus-wide public address system in the coming weeks.
The first test of the loudspeakers, which were installed at the university’s harbor-side campus last fall, will take place Friday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m., according to the school.
A brief message will be played Friday morning and may be repeated to ensure the system is working properly, the university said.
The new system is designed to provide saftey instructions and details about an emergency situation.
The system can be heard campus-wide, but should not be intrusive to area neighbors, said a statement from the university.
