Two former Dedham teachers will now be supporting Dedham students from beyond the grave.
Donald and Ann Corcoran, who died about a month apart in the winter of 2011, left $575,000 to the Dedham Public Schools for student scholarships to college, Superintendent June Doe informed School Committee members at a meeting Wednesday.
“Both Mr. and Mrs. Corcoran were teachers at Dedham Junior High School,” Doe said Wednesday. “Many in the community had Mr. Corcoran and Mrs. Corcoran for wood shop, home economics, and printing…. They certainly were career educators.”
Doe said the estate was recently settled and that the money would go toward scholarships for Dedham graduates.
School Committee members voted to accept the donation Wednesday.
