A 27-year-old Dedham man has been arrested and charged with armed robbery of a gas station in West Roxbury, Boston police said Tuesday.
According to the Boston police news website, at around 3:11 p.m. Monday, police received a call about a man in his early 20s, wearing pants and a black sweatshirt, suspected of robbing Hess Gas on Washington Street in West Roxbury.
Witnesses told police the man entered the station and showed a note saying he had a firearm, and demanded money. The man then reportedly left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Shortly after, Dedham police located a man they said matched the description of the suspect near the town line. Police then searched the man and reportedly found a large amount of loose cash in his pockets.
According to Boston police, the man, identified as James Micarelli, 27, said he was coming home from work and had just been paid. Officers did not find a firearm, but said the man was “positively identified” and he was charged with armed robbery.
