Danvers school is canceled today and plows are out clearing snow that the National Weather Service said could accumulate up to 8 inches.
"Some of the crews have been out since 2 in the morning, the rest have been out since 7," said Robert Lee, director of Danvers' Department of Public Works. "All the contractors are out."
According to Lee, snow had accumulated to about 3 inches by 9 a.m., but he expected an additional 4 inches by noon.
The town's overnight parking ban, which goes from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., has not been extended.
Lee recommended drivers remain "absolutely cautious" as there have been a number of spinouts.
"It's slick out there, so drive carefully," Lee said.
The Danvers Fire Department has not yet responded to any snow related accidents, said Danvers fire Captain Bob Pyburn.
