A Danvers car dealership opened it's doors at a new location today.
Ray Ciccolo's Hyundai Village of Danvers moved from its former Newbury Street location to a site near the Liberty Tree Mall. That location once held Colonial Cadillac and Colonial Saturn of Danvers, Ciccolo said.
Ciccolo, who owns seven other car dealerships in Massachusetts, said the dealership will begin selling Hyundais out of the former Saturn location, he said. While working out of there, renovations, which could take more than a year, will be performed on the former Cadillac dealership, Ciccolo said.
"This is going to be twice as big and give us the opportunity to stock twice as many cars," Ciccolo said.
Part of the reason for the move, Ciccolo said, is Hyundai's strict standards for which dealerships can carry the 2011 Genesis series. The Newbury street location didn't make the cut, Ciccolo said.
"When you're selling a new $70,000 to $80,000 Equus, you need a facility commensurate with the Equus," Ciccolo said.
With the new dealership open, Ciccolo expects to add 10 to 15 technical, office and sales jobs, he said.
