Concord Town Manager Christopher Whelan announced that Police Chief Barry Neal has resigned and worked his last day on Sept. 27.
At the time of his appointment in 2010, Neal had indicated plans to retire in the fall of 2013, Whelan said.
“Barry was dedicated to the Town of Concord and the Concord Police Department, and contributed in a meaningful way to the Police Department’s excellent reputation. He will be missed, and I wish him great success in his future endeavors,’’ said Whelan.
Sgt. Jack Kennedy has been appointed acting chief until an interim is named. The search process for a permanent chief will take six to eight months, Whelan said.
