High School students from Charlestown planning to study for a job in the health field have an opportunity to earn the 2013 Charlestown Health Care Merit Scholarship.
The scholarship, awarded by a consortium of neighborhood affiliates in Partners HealthCare, will offer two $3,000 scholarships to high school seniors from Charlestown who will be pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree that will lead to a health career
Students must have lived in Charlestown for at least two years, be a first-year, first-degree student who will attend college in fall 2013, and have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Applicants must demonstrate they are pursuing a career in nursing, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, or other health sciences professions.
Applications also must include an essay that demonstrates the applicant’s leadership qualities through community service work.
Applications are available for download online. The deadline is May 1 and all applicants will be notified of the final decision of the selection committee by email no later than June 1.
The 2013 Charlestown Health Care Merit Scholarship is a collaborative effort of the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center, MGH Institute of Health Professions, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
