Canton’s new senior center is scheduled to be occupied by August 2014, according to a document released by Canton Council on Aging Director Diane Tynan.
Currently, the town is having construction documents completed and will put the job out to bid in the fall after the town’s Building Renovation Committee approves them.
The renovation itself would be completed from January to July 2014, with a potential move-in date of August 5.
“This is the time frame we were expecting,” Tynan said.
Canton’s Town Meeting approved $1.4 million in May to renovate the former Knights of Columbus building at 500 Pleasant St. The town acquired the building in 2012 for $450,000.
The senior center is currently located in the basement of the senior housing complex at 660 Washington St., but space has been inadequate for years, according to Tynan.
