Schools are closed and the town offices are on a delayed opening as Canton digs its way out of 12 to 14 inches of snow, according to Fire Chief Charles Doody.
There were no power outages or major accidents reported as of about 11 a.m., but the department had dealt with a couple of minor accidents, Doody said.
He added that no one was expecting this much snow. “It’s interesting to try to watch the meteorologists try to explain their way out of this one,” he said.
All roads remain open in town, and the town offices should be open by noon, he said.
