Medford photographer George McLean, determined to get proof of the number of chicks in Ruby and Buzz's Red-tailed Hawks' nest, was at the Cambridge site before dawn. George, who takes great pride in his work, reminds all this is a shot for the record, not a portrait:
"Horrible lighting, atmospheric haze thick in the air, the branches keep growing. Ruby had just left the nest and three heads popped up. I took one photo and the middle head lay down again. He appears to be the last one born, I think I will call him 'Sleepy.' I don't think the Seven Dwarfs would mind. Photography at the 185 Alewife building was much easier."
