Cambridge Police said today that a 14-year-old boy arrested last week on two indecent assault charges has been identified as the perpetrator for two other alleged attacks.
The teen, whose name has not been released, was first arrested Jan. 5, after he allegedly indecently assaulted two women in Cambridge. Police said today that they have filed a complaint seeking the teen also be charged in connection with two additional crimes reported on Jan. 3.
Police said the teen, who lives in Cambridge, approached and groped a woman just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, near Highland and Marie avenues. A second woman reported that a person matching the description of the earlier attack had exposed himself to her on Maple Avenue at 7:15 p.m.
Two days later when two other women reported being indecently assaulted in the same area, Cambridge Police responded and arrested the teen.
A follow-up investigation identified the teen as the perpetrator of the Jan. 3 attacks, as well, police said.
“Immediately following the attacks on Jan. 5, our officers and detectives flooded the area and were able to apprehend the suspect,” said Cambridge Deputy Superintendent Paul Ames in a press release. “It was the quick response, coupled with the follow-up work of our detectives, which was able to connect these incidents and bring closure to all four women who were vicitimized by this suspect.
