Two Watertown police officers officially joined the Cambridge Police Department this morning in a small ceremony at the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Facility.
Brendan O’Hearn, 27, and James “Matt” Brown, 27, were sworn in as Cambridge Police Officers after transferring from the Watertown department.
O’Hearn worked as police officer in Watertown for more than four years and Brown was with the department for almost six years before transferring, according to the Cambridge Police Department.
Both officers will now take part in two weeks of training at the Cambridge Police Department before being assigned to a field training officer who they will train with for an additional four weeks in order to learn the streets and layout of the city as well as the “Cambridge Way” of policing, according to the police department.
After the officers were officially sworn in, Police Commissioner Robert Haas welcomed them both, saying the city is lucky to have two more skilled police officers.
