Whole Foods Market will open in Brookline next week, in the site of the old Johnnie’s Fresh Market.
The company announced in a press release Wednesday afternoon that it will open Thursday, April 11 at 8 a.m. at 1028 Beacon St., near the St. Mary’s T stop.
The Whole Foods Market will have 8,000 square feet and will be a scaled-down store with a full grocery shop experience, according to the company. It will have quick-serve and ready to eat items, a coffee bar and plans to have an outside seating area.
The Brookline grocery store will be Whole Foods Market’s 22nd location in Massachusetts and will have 75 employees. It will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Texas-based Whole Foods announced last year that it would be taking over the Johnnie’s Fresh Market space and five other Johnnie’s Foodmaster locations by the fall of this year.
The public is invited to the company's "bread-breaking" event at the Brookline location to celebrate the opening next Thursday, April 11 at 8 a.m.
