About 2,000 people are without power in Brookline and police said they have received about 70 reports of trees and limbs falling because of the winter storm.
Police said the power outage is in area around Centre Street in North Brookline and NStar crews are working on the problem. Police Lt. Philip Harrington said the town has received 108 calls about wires that have fallen or are hanging low.
The town has also received about 70 reports of fallen trees and limbs, but forestry workers have cleared most of the problems, police said.
Police Sgt. Robert Disario said Prince Street remains closed because a large tree is leaning on a house, but all other streets remain open.
Route 9/Boylston Street was closed temporarily this morning for wires down near Dunster Road and at another location for a fallen tree, Disario said.
DPW crews are working to clear the roads, which remain icy in some spots. Harrington said anyone who has parked their cars in a municipal lot is being asked to move their vehicles because once the DPW has finished clearing the roads they will be plowing the parking lots.
