A Braintree man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly texting while driving under the influence of drugs.
According to police, the suspect drove his car through a chain link fence and stopped just short of a Commercial Street home.
When officers arrived, police said they discovered the suspect was texting while driving and had apparently lost control of the vehicle, crossing the opposite lane of traffic, crashing through a fence and several trees and brush before coming to a stop.
While questioning the suspect, police made observations of possible drug use and asked the suspect to perform several sobriety tests.
Police arrested Brian P. Norton, 24, of Braintree and charged him with operating under the influence of drugs (second offense), failure to keep within marked lanes, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and texting while driving.
