Two arrested for selling drugs out of basement
Two people were arrested on Monday for allegedly selling marijuana and cocaine out of a Braintree basement.
According to police, detectives received a report of a drug transaction happening on Brookside Road and went over to investigate.
Once there, police saw a vehicle parked in front of the house with a person in the car. A short while later, a second person returned from the rear of the house, got in the car, and the two men drove off, police said.
Police said they stopped the car a short distance away and discovered a small quantity of marijuana in the car.
According to police, officers learned where the men had purchased the drugs, seized the less than one ounce of marijuana that they had, and sent the men on their way.
Detectives then returned to the Brookside Road house and spoke with the homeowner, who granted police access to her basement.
Once downstairs, detectives found an alleged drug dealer along with numerous mason jars and other containers containing marijuana, cocaine, and other unknown substances that will be sent to the drug lab for testing.
More than $1,000 in cash was also found, police said.
A further search of the home uncovered eight morphine pills in the alleged dealer’s purse.
Police arrested Casey M. Doherty, 23, of Quincy, and charged her with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine, possession of a Class C substance, conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act, and possession of morphine.
