Braintree youth faces drug charges
A 16-year-old Braintree teen will be summonsed to court on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, after Braintree police allegedly saw the youth partake in a drug transaction in the 7-Eleven parking lot in Weymouth Landing.
On Tuesday evening, officers watched as the occupants of two cars met up in the parking lot.
A woman approached one of the cars and appeared to make an exchange with the occupant.
The woman soon left. When officers approached the vehicle, they said they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.
After a short search, officers located the marijuana and $525 in the teen’s pocket, police said, and a digital scale was found in the glove compartment.
The woman who had approached the car was located a short distance away and found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana packaged in the same type of baggies found in the Braintree youth’s car, police said.
The name of the youth has not been released because of his age.
