The city of Beverly health department is teaming up with the local police for its annual medication disposal day.
The event will take place on Saturday April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beverly senior center located at 90 Colon St.
Items that will be accepted include prescription and over-the-counter medications, medication samples, vitamins, veterinary medications, narcotics and liquid medications.
Among the items that the city will not accept are sharps, or objects used to puncture skin, thermometers, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, inhalers, hydrogen peroxide or personal care products.
Sharps can be disposed of 24 hours per day, seven days per week, at the main entrance of Beverly Hospital in the sharps kiosk.
The event is part of a regional medication collection organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (D.E.A), which the police have been involved with for several years.
Beverly Hospital and the Beverly Council on Aging are also partnering up for the event.
