Dogs have their day next weekend at the Charles River Esplanade--a day complete with treats, a "promenade" around the park, and a costume contest.
The "Canine Promenade," on October 22, an event to "highlight the Esplanade as a resource for dog owners and to raise awareness about the park's needs," will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Festivities start at the Lotta Fountain on the Esplanade.
There will be a half-mile parade around the Esplanade, with WHDH meteorologist Dylan Dreyer serving as grand marshall. Prizes will be awarded for best costume (dog) and best duet (human and dog).
Entrants will also receive a photograph of their pup in costume, and there will be treats for humans and canines alike.
Interested canine participants can have their owners register for them. Click here for more information.
