Residents living in and around the Back Bay have a chance to discuss a proposal to build 33-story tower near Copley Square.
The Boston Redevelopment Authority is hosting a public meeting on the proposed development at 40 Trinity Place on Tuesday, July 30, at the Lenox Hotel from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The project, proposed by Trinity Stuart LLC, would demolish the Boston Common Hotel and Conference Center to build a 400-foot-tall building housing a hotel, residences, and restaurants at the corner of Trinity Place and Stuart Street.
The 369,370-square-foot tower would house approximately 142 residential units, a 220-room hotel with conference center space, two restaurants, and roughly 100 parking spaces for residents on the fourth and fifth floors.
The project site also includes the air rights over a portion the adjacent University Club of Boston at 426 Stuart St.
The BRA’s scoping determination, which outlines specific issues the applicant must study, shows community members and abutters have concerns about the building’s height and its impact on wind patterns.
Residents and elected officials also want a mix market rate and affordable housing for families in the building, according to the scoping determination.
Based on comments from public officials and residents, the BRA has also asked Trinity Stuart LLC to work with the community to help bring a Boston Public School to the neighborhood. The authority said the developer should work with the community to establish a new school either near the project sit or within the proposed building.
