The Boston Public Library is preparing to reduce hours at its central library and branches as summer approaches.
The library announced Tuesday its annual shift to summer hours will begin after Sunday, May 19. That is the last Sunday the central library in Copley Square will be open until the fall. After that date, the central library will be open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The library's neighborhood branches will be open Saturdays through June 15. After that date, branches will be open Monday through Friday. Hours vary by location. Saturday hours will resume in the fall.
